Abstract: The essence of this study is to further review the problems and prospects of marketing pharmaceutical products because the role pharmaceutical products play in the economic sector of any nation cannot be over-emphasized. In view of this fact, various writers and professionals on the subject were acknowledged. Bringing out areas of differences and agreement on the research study, so that at the end of the programme those problems identified could be adequately tackled through the best marketing strategies and otherwise, for the benefit of both marketers and consumers. In addition, the research would identify the prospects of marketing pharmaceutical products so that the investors will take the opportunity to invest in pharmaceutical sector of the economy. In this research work, exploratory research is used to give this process of investigation a proper direction. The sample size used was 24 from an estimated population of 40 for the staff of Sonnex Pharmaceutical Limited. While on the part of the customers (distributors), with an estimated population of 100, 40 was taken as the sample size.
The researcher also made use of personal interview and questionnaire methods in the research work. In the course of this study, two hypothesis were tested namely:1. HO: That Sonnex Pharmaceutical Limited does not fully understand the marketing programmes and does not apply them in its operations. HI: That Sonnex Pharmaceutical Limited fully understands the marketing programmes and applies them in its operations. 2. HO: That the application of marketing programmes to pharmaceutical products is not the same as that of other products. HI: That the application of marketing programmes to pharmaceutical products is the same as that of other products. Based on the findings of the two hypothesis tested, one proved positive and the other negative. From the finding, Sonnex Pharmaceutical Limited does consider doctor and customers interest in the process of decisions making and polices.
Pharmaceutical Company should make doctor orientation as its optimum priority in its decision. However, customers indicate that they are satisfied with the quality and prices of the drugs being produced by Sonnex. The customers also express excellent sales force. Though the customers are not satisfied with the Company for not having a warehouse located in the Northern part of the country.
