Abstract: My interest on this research was due to the fact that the Legal Professional Act of 1975 prohibits any sort of advertisement by a Legal Practitioner. As advertisement in law, is seen as unprofessional and/or likely to bring the profession into disrepute. The research findings shows that Nigerian populace are interested in knowing what services is provided by the Legal Profession. It was observed that most Nigerians are ignorant of law.
This was why in my opinion the maxim "ignorantia facti excusat; ignorantia juris non excusat", should not be applicable in a country like Nigeria, because it seems to me that the Nigerian Society is being made ignorant of law intentionally. Also the society sees the profession as operating in a deliberately mysterious and secretive and confusing way. Nobody seems to know much on law or what services it renders to the society. The general view therefore is that Lawyers, or their association should have a change of attitude, on the rule regarding advertisement, especially where such advertisement are not misleading.
Other countries have since changed such rules concerning promotion of legal services. Countries like England permits partial advertisement, while other countries permits total advertisement..............ORDER FOR COMPLETE PROJECT MATERIAL NOW!! .
