ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research work on the area of recruitment
and motivation of salesforce resulted from the over increasing
problems of recruitment exercise coupled with the concern and
means of achieving predetermined goals through increased
efficiency and level of productivity on the part of the salesforce.
The objectives of this study are, to investigate into when
recruitment exercise is expected to be carried out and how it is
undertaken by the management of the companies under study.
Secondly, to examine the kind of motivational programmes
adopted by both companies in to her to make the salesforces
increase their sales volume and then reduce the salesforce
turnover.
In other to achieve the above objectives, data was
gathered from the companies under study through the
distribution of questionnaires to saleforce and sales managers.
The analysis of data gathered indicated that the salesforce
recruitment practices has been satisfactory, secondly, it was
discovered that training programmes was organized for the
efficient performance of the salesforce. Again the analyses
showed that the management of both companies has
motivational plans for the salesforce. In conclusion, the
researcher made some recommendations ranging from an
additional training techniques such as organizing seminars,
conferences and workshops should be adopted by the
management of both companies. The researcher also
recommended that if a conducive environment is created a the
work place, the workers will fill a sense of belonging, and this
would no doubt spur them to greater performance in the
organization. Lastly, related studies of this kind should be
executed in order to improve and increase extensive researcher
work.
