Abstract:
It has been observed that secondary school home management students in Eastern States of Nigeria fail to demonstrate home economics at hom skills at home, especially in such areas as daily care of rooms, bathing of babies and washing of clothes. This is an indication that they may not have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills while i n school, The problem posed by the study therefore is: Do secondary school students acquire such homemaking knowledge as would prepare them for effective family living towards solving some of todays social problems? The purpose of the study then is to evaluate the levels of home management knowledge that student attain before leaving the secondary school.Specifically, the study attempted to: i, Compare achievement of class five students in home management in the four Eastern States especially i n Federal Government Schools and State or Connunity Secondary Schools. ii, Cornpare students achievement within the States in relation to the two groups of schools and between States too. 111.
