Abstract:
This study was aimed at identifying measures for effective maintenance of agricultural science facilities and equipment in senior secondary schools in Enugu State. This was necessitated by the fact that Agricultural science is no longer taught with un-maintained facilities and equipment. To carry out the study, five research questions were posed and four null hypotheses were formulated. Questionnaire was used to collect data from a total population of 200 Agricultural science teachers randomly selected from secondary schools in Enugu State. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question while t-test statistics was employed to test the four null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study were: 1. There is need to delegate students to specific maintenance activities like cleaning and servicing of equipment. 2. Laboratory personnel should endeavour to carry out periodic inspection on each equipment. 3. Accurate records of repairs done on equipment and facilities should be kept. 4. Repairs manuals should be made available in the laboratory. 5. Relevant training on equipment and facilities maintenance and the repair should be done on regular basis. Recommendation were made based on the findings of the study.
