Abstract:
This study was designed to identify the similarities and differences in experienced certificate Biology teachers' lesson planning, teaching procedure and testing skills when teaching Biology and when teaching other subjects as well as discuss the educational implications of such a condition. To carry out the study, research questions and three hypotheses were formulated, all derived from the literature review. Observational schedule was used to collect relevant data from Biology teachers who also taught other science subjects, with 18 of them selected by stratified sampling from two educationa1 zones of the State. T - test was employed to test the null hypotheses at the 0.05 level of probability. The study, among other things, revealed that there were no significant difference in the lesson Planning and testing skills of certificated Biology teachers when they tea.ch both Biology and other science However, there was a significant difference in ratings of the teachers on teaching procedure when they teach Biology and other subjects, One of the recommendations was that more science teachers should be trained and recruited to avoid assigning teachers to teach areas outside their subjects of certification,
