Abstract:
China’s recent surge into Nigeria and Africa at large have become an issue of academic debate. In this paper, we have tried to argue that though Nigeria are enjoying Chinese surge, but our dynamic research on the Chinese influx of goods in Nigeria shows that Nigeria industrial development have been negated as a result of influx of manufactured goods from China, more so, we also argue that Chinese investment in Nigeria have not reduced the incidence of unemployment in Nigeria, we also noted that China’s policy choice of going global is to assure oil supply and market for its products. To actualize these tax we adopted complex interdependence theory, finally our position in this paper is that even though Nigeria benefits from Chinese surge, the negative impacts of this surge is much more than the gains, the relationship can be best described as the extension of Chinese territory in Nigeria and Africa at large engendered by their over population and the need to curb unemployment incidence in China, this is entrusted by the exodus of Chinese in the Africa.
