Men’s exploitation and development activities generally made impacts on the crude oil spillages. It is a fact that the quantity of production of oil has been on decline over the years due to our quest for greater economic growth. Crude oil spillage occurrences on land and on shore drilling are
becoming common phenomenon on oil spillage, if not properly clean on affected sites can cause damages to both aquatic and terrestrial life. The impact of heavy metals present in
crude oil was analysed in this study. A self made questionnaire was distributed to people of Okrika to seek their opinion on this issue. The result from the respondents was used to analyse the impact of crude oil spillage on the socio – economic well being of the people of Niger Delta region
using chi-square statistical data and recommendation were made to prevent the causes and its effects on the people of the study area (Okrika)
