The purpose of this study was find out the causes and effects of malnutrition on academic performance of students in some selected secondary school in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. Questionnaires were constructed and distributed to one hundred (100) respondents. Data was analyzed using percentage. Results showed that maknutrition exist. In the findings, it was discovered that malnutrition occurs as a result of I gnorance, socio-economic status of parents and some cultural practices and that malnutrition occurs in children from poor and illiterate background.
Based on these findings, recommendations were made. They included that the governments should ensure that mass education programmes be given to mothers to eradicate ignorance and that parent
should provide their children with adequate nutritions meals.
