THE CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY. A CASE STUDY OF OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA. EDO STATE.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the causes and effects of teenage pregnancy in the society. The research/study was to investigate the various factors contributing towards the increase of teenage pregnancy problems and how it’s effects on young teens leads to a great destruction.
During the research, it was discovered that early marriage, frustration on teenager, lack of sex education, parents, peer pressure, poverty, urbanization as well as the government are the sole-contributors to the existence of teenage pregnancies in the society.
However, the solutions and preventive measures are not left out. For young Teenagers to be free from various menace and dangers, the solution provided in this project as regards to the term “Teenage Pregnancy” should be put into consideration.
In carrying out his research work, 100 persons were used as subject of this study. Related literature was reviewed and questionnaires were administered to individuals and it was found out that most people do not know the effects and causes of Teenage Pregnancy.
It is a fact that Teenage Pregnancy is very dangerous to human health as it has affected young teens, the parents and the society in many ways thereby leading to the deaths and destructions of the unborn and innocent babies as well as their mothers.
Based on the findings from the analyzed data of this research work, recommendations were made by the researcher with the hope that if carefully considered and implemented by the Teenagers, parents,
Governments and the public, they would help in providing better means of preventing teenage Pregnancy especially in Oredo Local Government Areaof Edo State.
