Staff Motivation and Discipline in Hospitals: A Sase study of Seventh Day Adventist Hospital Aba.

Abstract:

This research work is an analysis of Staff Motivation and Discipline in Hospitals, with particular reference to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Aba. This research work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introductory part of the work, which includes the statement of the problems of the study, objectives, significance, scope and Limitations of the study. The second chapter examines literatures relating to Staff Motivation and Discipline and adopts the incentive theory of motivation as its framework of analysis. The chapter also covers the methods of data collection and analysis. The third chapter is a compendium of information on the Seventh Day Adventist (GCSDA) while the fourth chapter captures the analysis, presentation of data and the research findings. The findings amongst others are that staff motivation and discipline can lead to improved performance in SDAH, that discipline make employees conform to the right behavior in an organization and that for employees to conform to the rules of the organization largely depends on the reactions of the organization to both those who comply and those who do not comply with such rules. Chapter five summarizes, concludes and makes some recommendations. The recommendations include that management should be enthusiastic about their job so that employees can follow suite, and that every organization should have a standard disciplinary measure against which erring employees would be disciplined.
